8 layer icecream in Otaru, Hokkaido

I planned my trip in Hokkaido like this , stay a few nights in Sapporo, have a day trip to Otaru and then go to Noboribetsu Onsen.
After having my Ainu Feast I was excited to go to Otaru and see what I could try there. I ended up finding a nice icecream shop.

Otaru is known for it’s seafood and music boxes.
However because of COVID-19 and the slightly odd time I go there (not quite lunch , not quite dinner) there weren’t many places open that I could eat at. So I settled to eat lunch at a sushi train restaurant right by the canal.

I had two plates , three types of tuna and caviar boats. All fresh , tasty and certainly better quality than what I would get my local sushi-ro in Tatsuno.

After that I decided to walk the streets and see if there was anything else I could eat. After about 10 minutes walking on Sakaimachi-dori I saw a sign that showed an 8 layered icecream (from memory I thought it was 10 but I can’t see it on their website- there is a 12 layer option available in the cup). So I decided to go and try it. It cost about 650 yen.
The layers were from top to bottom:
- Milk & Chocolate
- Melon & Wine
- Fresh Chocolate
- Milk
- Melon
- Wine
- Matcha
- Strawberry

The icecream was really fun to eat and I didn’t feel bloated afterwards!
